For the past couple of years, Pastors Sam & Taylor have led our Hammond campus to provide Christmas gifts for every child at the Carmelite home in Hammond.  Actually, they’ve provided every gift the child asked for each year!

But this year they decided to step up their game and bring all of those kids to the Hammond campus for a great Christmas party where they could have food and fun and then receive their gifts.

I wish every CLC’er could have been there to see the JOY on these kids’ faces – kids who have already suffered more family trauma than many of us have experienced in our lifetime.  It definitely made me PROUD of CLC and what our Hammond campus is doing!

But it also made me remember the age-old cliche’ that says, “You can’t outgive God!” as Pastor Sam shared with me that he had reserved a school bus from the Illinois Bus Company of Crestwood to transport all the kids from the home to our campus last night – BUT when the company learned what we were doing, they substituted a LUXURY charter bus to bring the kids to us AND included some Christmas gifts of their own – at NO CHARGE to us!

But that’s not all: Strack & Van Til grocers make a donation of groceries each Christmas to a non-profit in Northwest Indiana, and this week they selected CLC-Hammond!

And that’s not all: there were so many groceries (100 bags in all!) that Pastors Sam & Taylor decided to help jumpstart the Hope Center food pantry at our CLC-Blue Island campus (that’s what I call generous-hearts!), so the Carmelite kids aren’t the only ones jumping with excitement – so are our Blue Island leaders

Pastors Sam & Taylor motivated our volunteers to give their time & energy to bless these kids, but then we received the surprises, so I’ll say it again, You. Can’t. OUTGIVE. God!
