Day 15, 21-days of Prayer & Fasting

This is the text of today’s Facebook Live devotional from Children’s Pastor, Stacy Hunter:

Trust Issues.

Many may struggle like myself. The struggle with Trust issues can be a daunting task, but be encouraged that scripture states:

It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in humans. Psalm 118:8

I say this in jest, but this verse makes me feel a little better about my own issues of trust. So if you struggle in this area let this scripture be an encouragement to you as well! Though, some of us may have to work through some personal issues on trust, we can ALWAYS trust in Jesus.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life. Psalm 143:8

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

God’s love is unconditional, even if you are struggling with someone or something, a sin, bitterness, it doesn’t matter, because God still LOVES you unconditionally. He Loves You. You can trust him to make your paths straight.

This scripture asks us to trust God completely, with all our heart, not a little, or sometimes or when it’s convenient. It can be easy to trust God with unpleasant areas of our lives…especially after we have exhausted all other options. We throw up our hands and say, “God I finally give these unpleasant areas to you … anxiety, sickness, my tithe, my frustration, my children etc.” God is not a last resort, but a first and best opportunity to draw closer to him when things get rough.

The Lord is good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him. Nahum 1:7

Praise God! He will take care of the messes in our lives.

We have to remember to trust God with the areas we are controlling just fine. “God, I got my finances, I’m doing just fine.” God, I got my relationships, I am doing fine.” “God, I will let you know when things become unpleasant and you can fix them after I try fixing them and controlling the situation.”

Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun. Psalm 37:5-6

God wants the unpleasant areas as much as the pleasant areas. Trust fully in God! Every day give him your children, relationships, health, finances, mentally, physically, spiritually, academically, athletically, etc. Trust him with every area of your life: The big, the small, the shame, the hurts, the blessings, the good and the bad, the past, present and future. God has a plan. Trust Him. Even if your paths don’t seem very straight in this season…give it to God. Fully give it to God. Trust him. His plans are far greater than our own. He raises the dead, he heals the sick, Jesus is someone we can always count on!

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17: 7-8
