Day 20, 21-Days of Prayer & Fasting

This is the text of today’s devotional from Blue Island Campus Pastor, Sol McQuay:

I don’t know about you but I love music, I have to have music in the background while driving, cleaning, or working. Sometimes I like to go old school and listen to the bands I used to listen to 10+ years ago because those are the ones I can sing along the best, and let’s be honest, music is more fun when you can use your oh so amazing voice and sing as loud as you can.
A couple of weeks ago that was the case, I had my oldies playlist going while I washed the dishes and a song by the Newsboys came on, the chorus of the songs says “When hope is lost, I call you Savior; when pain surrounds, I call you Healer; when silence falls you’ll be the song within my heart.” And right there, in the middle of my kitchen God spoke to me and said “Who do you need me to be in your life today?”
The Bible refers to God by many different names, by doing that it gives us a glimpse of His power and character. It helps us know who He is and what He desires to do in and for us. He shows His majesty, power, and love for us every single day. And He wants to meet us in our time of need. There’s nothing that is too difficult for our God. So let me ask you that same question, Who do you need Him to be in your life today?
Are you in a financial need? Call on Jehovah Jireh –My God will provide
Struggling with Stress, anxiety, worry? Call on Jehovah Shalom –The Lord is Peace
Are you sick? Call on Jehovah Rapha –The Lord that Heals
And there are many more names for Him in the Bible, here’s a link to a list with scripture references for those names in the Bible.
But no matter what you need today, no matter if you are dealing with family issues, health, feelings of loneliness or hopelessness. God is able to meet us in our needs and to deliver us. His desire is to see you living a life that is full of His blessings, His joy, His peace. So I want to encourage today to call on the name of the Lord, call Him for who you need Him to be for you in this season and see that He is good and faithful to do big things in and for you.
Let me pray for you,
Lord, we thank you for being all we need, thank you because you care for us and our specific situations. I ask you give us a new revelation of who you are for us today. Help us to put our trust in you. In Jesus Name, Amen.
